5 Prophetic Dua’s To Repeat This Ramadan 2024

Dua and fasting go hand in hand. Both deeds are known to be the most beloved to Allah, as they have the power to shield us from the torment of hellfire, to intercede us on the day of Judgement, and simultaneously strengthen our relationship with the Creator. Hence it comes to no surprise that we, as a Muslims are encouraged to intensify our supplications, particularly during the blessed month of Ramadan.

As stated by the Prophet (ﷺ), “Indeed the prayer of the fasting person during his break is not rejected.” (Sunan Ibn Majah). In another narration, he (ﷺ) said, “Dua is the essence of worship.” (Tirmidhi). So in addition to composing our personal, heartfelt duas’ to Allah and requesting all that our hearts long for, there are also supplications from our beloved Messenger (ﷺ) that should be recited regularly during this Ramadan. While it is not obligatory to do so, we firmly believe that by reciting these authentic supplications can increase the barakah in every moment of our fasting.

  1. Dua’ when breaking fast

Umar (may Allah SWT be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to say when breaking his fast:

ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ، وَابْتَلَّتِ العُرُوقُ، وَثَبَتَ الأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ

Dhahaba al-zama’u, wa’btallat al-‘urooqu, wa thabata al-ajru insha’Allah.

“The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened and the reward is assured, if Allah wills.”

  1. Dua’ for Laylatul Qadr

When asked by Aisha, (may Allah SWT be pleased with her), on what to say on Laylatul Qadr, the Prophet (ﷺ) said:

اللَّهُمَّ اَنْتَ عَفُوٌّ، تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي

Allaahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul-‘afwa fa‘fu ‘anni.

“O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me.”

  1. Dua to be saved from hellfire

The Messenger of Allah () said, “Verily Allah has people He redeems at the the time of breaking fast, and that is during every night (of Ramadan):

اللَّهُمَّ اعْتِقُ رِقَابَنَا مِنَ النَّارِ

Allahumma Atiq Riqabana Minan Naar

“O Allah! Free our necks from the fire!”

  1. Dua’ for Rizq

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) used to recite this dua during Fajr:

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا ,وَ رِزْقًا طَيَّبًا , وَ عَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً

Allahumma inni as’aluka ‘Ilman naafi’an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa ‘amalan mutaqabbalan.

“Oh, Allah! I ask You for knowledge that is of benefit, a good provision and deeds that will be accepted.”

  1. Dua’ for steadfastness in deen

Mu’adh ibn Jabal reported: The Messenger of Allah () took me by the hand and he said, “O Mu’adh, I swear by Allah that I love you. I swear by Allah that I love you. O Mu’adh, I advise you not to forget supplicating after every prayer by saying”:

اللهم أعني على ذكرك، وشكرك، وحسن عبادتك

Allahumma a'inni ala dhikrika, wa shukrika, wa husni 'ibadatika.

“O Allah, help me remember You, to be grateful to You, and to worship You in an excellent manner.”
